x BEGINNING SEWING LESSONS - 2 Saturdays
Learn to sew and you pick your project.. This is 2 class sessions that may continue on as you learn to sew new garments or projects on a classroom sewing machine and serger.
These classes are perfect for complete beginners or those with some experience looking to brush up on their skills. The classes are packed with sewing techniques and limit the class size to 5 to ensure you will the most one to one attention from an experienced sewing instructor.
WHAT WILL I LEARN? You will learn the basic uses of a sewing machine and up keep of the machine. Learn about using the correct needles and threads, how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin correctly and adjust the tension. You'll learn basic stitches, how make an open and closed seam and sew curves and corners and sew edge and top stitch and make a button hole. You will then learn how to choose a commercial pattern, lay a pattern on fabric and cut out and mark, read to sew.

1st class is 10-Noon- You will sew on a machine and plan your project. DON'T BUY ANYTHING BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS. Class supply list will be given at the first class, with examples and an opportunity to purchase in the bookstore or your local and online fabric and notion retailers.
The second class is 10-3:30. You will alter your pattern, cut it out and start constructing it. If you have chosen a simple pattern, you will be able to complete it. If you choose a more difficult pattern, or one with more pieces, you may not finish. Open labs are available for you to finish at a later time.
