x New York - Couture Tailoring Techniques with Thomas von Nordheim

On this course you will learn traditional tailoring techniques through building a half classic style jacket from scratch. Starting with marking and hand canvassing the jacket foreparts to include padding the revers and staying the edges and break line, you will move on to applying a jetted pocket, fixing the facings and attaching the back. A rarely taught subject, ironworking particular garment sections to mold them to the body is shown during the class.

After interlining the hem, you will make and attach the padded collar. You will learn to tailor a two piece sleeve and setting and inserting it into the armhole, using all the appropriate professional materials. Finally you will line the jacket and learn to embroider a keyhole buttonhole with silk thread.

The workshop will be held at The Factory 8 classroom, 265 W 37th, New York city.
